Expect notes of Strawberries & Fruity Pebbles.
This new Gesha comes to us from Oscar Abad’s Finca La Palma, of the San Ignacio Province in Cajamarca, Perú. This single-hectare farm is small but mighty, boasting 5,000 coffee trees all thriving in abundantly fertile soil full of rich organic matter. The semi-dry, semi-cold conditions of these tropical highlands in Peru contribute greatly to the production of unique specialty coffees like this one!
Like this Gesha, the vast majority of coffee in Perú is washed. The coffee is depulped the same day it’s harvested and given 12-18 hours of open-air fermentation time before being washed clean of any mucilage. Lastly, the coffee is dried on patios or raised beds. This traditional wet process makes for a cup with exceptional clarity, brighter flavor profiles, and allows distinctive origin characteristics to truly shine through.
Geshas are known for their striking, complex fruit and floral notes, offering a unique sensory experience with every sip, and this one doesn’t miss the mark. It is clean, vibrant, and tropical with a sweetness comparable to a big bowl of Fruity Pebbles. This playful sweetness is perfectly balanced by just the perfect amount of tart strawberry acidity, all while maintaining the signature delicacy and elegance that defines a great Gesha.
Special Special denotes a small lot of extra special coffees either by rarity, variety, or processing.
